Handmade by the AfriBeads Womens Association a group of 30 women in Kampala, Uganda that havent traditionally had access to the global market place. Many millions of people live in extreme poverty in Africa, struggling to survive and look after their families. By providing a market for their beautiful products in Australia, Afribeads gives these artisans the opportunity of employment and the ability to care for not only their own families, but many others around them.
These unique bowls and platters are made from natural fibres such as banana leaf, raffia and water reeds and have been individually hand woven using traditional techniques. You may find some variations which add to the beauty and unique qualities of these items.
