Luther's Contention for the Real Presence in the Sacrament of the Alter
This is a revised edition of the work first published in 1958, not a mere reprint. In addition to evident changes in layout, the original manuscript was improved in wording here and there, and various necessary corrections have been made. It was also the author's plan to amplify this by a second preface and by an epilogue after chapter 7, in which he wished to comment on trends and developments in the area of the Eucharist since he penned the original manuscript in 1954. However, on August 9, 1976, God in his unsearchable wisdom suddenly called Herman Sasse from his life before these additions had been put to paper.
In place of the planned epilogue, we have reprinted two appropriate, articles which appeared in the Australian Lutheran Theological Journal.
We gratefully dedicate this edition to the memory of the late author widely-know scholar, and also confessor of the truth as it is in Christ Jesus.
