The Art of Preaching
Excited to Speak, Exciting to Hear: The Art of Preaching is based on the author's reflection on a lifetime of preaching, his wide reading on the subject, his teaching, his teaching of theological students, and his discussions with people who listen to sermons.
The book arises from the author's concern that sermons are often poorly prepared and presented and fail to engage people who hear them. Too many sermons are boring.
The book deals with important principles underlying the art of preaching and with a wide range of practical matters in regard to sermon preparation and delivery. There are four specimen sermons written by the author.
