Responsive Prayers and Readings for Contemporary Worship
The first edition of Be Our Freedom, Lord won the 1982 Australian Christian Book of the Year Award and went on to be a best-seller.
This second edition has been greatly expanded and revised:154 new prayers and readings have been added;many prayers and readings from the first edition have been revised or rewritten;some material that felt to be out of date has been omitted or replaced;inclusive language, in relation to both God and people, has been used consistently.
The sections in this book, which are from many parts of the world and from widely differing situations, voice the praises, laments, confessions, concerns, fragility, and commitment of people on a common journey.
Designed for active congregational participation, the selections are arranged according to theme, appropriate part of worship, and the church year. Indexes of titles and scripture references, and a thorough listing of sources, are included, making the book an excellent resource for worship planning, for use in small groups or families, and for personal meditation.
Dr Terry Fallahas previously served as lecturer in Old Testament Studies at Whitley College, minister of Baptist churches at Ashburton and Rosanna, Ecumenical Chaplain to La Trobe University, and Professor of Old Testament at the New Zealand Baptist Theological College.
