"To discover our identity as Lutherans involves two things. First we must be prepared to find out all we can about our heritage. Secondly, we must ask what it means for us today" - Friedemann Hebart
This is a newly revised and updated edition of a book that first appeared in 1979 under the same title. The first edition, which gained a large readership, was particularly appreciated by lay people and was widely studied in church groups. The book helped many readers understand - sometimes for the first time in their life - what the gospel, the central message of the Christian faith, really is.
In writing about the Formula of Concord, one of the lesser-known writings of the Lutheran church, the author does more than provide a commentary on the various theological controversies that led to the writing of this important document. He lets the Formula speak to some of the most basic questions that people face in their life.
A study guideto this bookis also available. The book and study guide are also available as a pack.
